There are times we must look to the sky, to GOD, try and understand the ways of the world. Sometimes, there are more questions than can, in our times, be answered. I am writing out of a need to express that my readers check what “reception” is available to them.
Information is surrounding us. It is enveloping us in a swirl of facts, stories, and general information that we may or may not need. What is the line between too much and enough information to intelligently make decisions?
Some folks I have spoken to think this information age we are in is to be the death of us. Similarly in the early 1900s, the Industrial age was not looked upon as favorable either. In history there is so much to prove that every time there has been great change, people resist, or engage, generally. Some onlookers of change do just that, observe, investigate and later judge as to their opinion.
Which brings us to this day and time. We are under great societal change, that is for certain. NO matter what you politically, religiously, spiritually, theologically believe, great change is coming…and has been coming for some time.
My question for the sake of this writing is, “what do you do with it?” How is your “reception” to change, and how do you make decisions on the events around you?
Different folks who have read this blog have discarded God as a non entity, discarded scientific thoughts, discarded technology improvements, all of which is their choice and freedoms, of course. I ask you however, again, what and how do you obtain, process, and receive information to make the decisions you do make?
The reason I find this of utmost importance is I seem to find more and more that many people do not base important decisions on anything other than a “notion,” or a “feeling” or circumstantial evidence that not necessarily leads to the truth.
Take for example, Jesus. If you lived during the times He did, what would you think of Him? Radical? Devil? Complicit to start a revolution? Crazy man? Heretic? Messiah? What information would you need to decide if He was who He said He was? The Bible was not yet written, and in general, rumor and word of mouth was the way information was passed on… and badly at that sometimes.
And yet, people, some people, were receptive to the change Jesus was offering. They seemed to LISTEN to Him with consternation, with passion, with HOPE for their future. Those people seemed to HEAR His Word as the Word was transferred from one to another. It is no wonder in the Bible, so many Apostles quoted Jesus words, hopefully close to verbatim, so the people could hear the SAME THINGS, time after time. Consistency, reliable consistency. They were not indifferent, they were passionate. Those men shared their experiences with Jesus with fervor, with God given Love and adoration for Him.
When you listen to our various information sources, do you hear the words of Love, do you hear the words of regret, of forgiveness, of passion, of integrity, promise, HOPE and the tenets Jesus taught? How is your reception to these themes? How do you HEAR what is being offered to you? What filters do you use to hear these? If you are using filter, of which there are many, are you really hearing the messages or are you hearing your preferences?
In these times, in our humanity, I believe it necessary to look at ourselves and study these facets of our “reception.” Pure truth can be hard to find, but diligence to find truth lies in our hands.
Blessings as we learn, grow and become, together.
