As we approach Sunday, I thought it appropriate to focus on prayer as a means of communication to God, through Christ, whom loves us all.
Whether you are a Believer or just an observer, prayer has an incredible power to speak from our hearts to He who created us, so that our concerns and contritions be heard.
Prayer can be simple or complex, detailed as your heart calls. You can merely start by saying…” Hey, I need some help here,” or to reciting the “Our Father”, or to kneeling, simply sitting with a quiet spirit.
Today, I pray for peace, for the world I know to come to a universal understanding that each of us was created by One. We were created after His image, so that we are all made perfect in His sight.
I pray for those who have strayed far from His perfection and left His love and care. I pray they will again find Him and the love that is so absent from lives that evil and violence fill their spirits. I pray for those across the world who are in need of compassion and mercy. Mercy that not only God can give, but that we, can offer up as well.
I pray for healing. I pray for spirits and minds to heal. I pray for hate and hateful divisive language be brought to a standstill for all people. I pray for love for each other to reign. I pray for the long history of division ends today.
I pray for understanding; Understanding that we are people that inhabit this world together. Separated by oceans, beliefs and dogma, each of us made uniquely different, down to our cell structures. I pray this wholeness of body and mind reaches across all the oceans of the world.
I pray for an end to persecution. I pray that governments and countries place basic human rights above power and money, and killing in the name of religion or state, comes to an end.
I pray that persons who are hurting from so many societal ills are comforted and given Grace by each of us, as it is given to us. And I pray, that as we pray we will earnestly decide to act on these prayers, not expecting God to do all the work.
Lastly, I pray that each one of us, take time to love. Hug your family, if you can, send letters of encouragement, phone calls of hope and eye contact full of Gods Love, Grace and unending Mercy.
I pray all these things today and in earnest contemplation.
In Christ’s Holy Name I pray these prayers,
Amen.
